Baja Shooting assure you the perfect “live-hunting” of 100% wild birds as the Gambel quail, Huilota Doves, White winged Doves and the Collar Pheasant. Mexicali Valley is the only place where you can catch a limit of eight Pheasant during the morning and 30 Huilotas Doves in the afternoon. Also, you can undertake the hunt of Gambel Quail in their natural habitat, either in the bushes or by the borders of thousands of acres of sowing. Baja Shooting is owned by Eric Muller and Galo Orejas. It is operated and managed enthusiastically by them
Eric (right) and Galo (at the left) are residents of the Mexicali Valley from a lifetime. Since they were young, they began to hunt and as adults they still share the same passion for hunting.
Eric is an expert Pilot and also a crop duster pilot in a company which it is conserve like a family business for over 50 years, and through his business he has carry out a close relationship with farmers of the region, who allow him the special access to the best fields and to hunting zones.
Galo is the owner of a Food Distribution Business and during decades he has enjoyed working as a professional hunting guide.
Both have been friends and hunting companion for many years. And thus offer their great experience and knowledge as hunters as well as businessmen to provide an excellent hunting adventure. What we offer

Immediately after, a general description of each hunting season, as you can see all of them overlap one another.
- Pheasant: begins in late October and ends in late December. Pheasants are hunted in the fields of sorghum, wheat, corn, sudan grass, safflower (carthamus). Hunting begins early in the morning upon going in and blocking through the selected field. It is not uncommon to be able to hunt the limits of birds in a single entrance. The assistants are used to direct to the birds and aid the hunters to locate roosters that are brought down. In the price for hunting includes one cintillo (tag) to hunt a 8 male pheasants. You can buy additional “cintillos” if the hunter wants to hunt over the limit. The hunting for pheasants ends before noon time.
- Dove: Begins in September and usually concludes late February. There are three types of dove to hunt in Baja California. White Wing Dove, Huilota, and the “anillada” dove (turtle):
The dove hunting is advisable very early in the morning or very late afternoon when they fly to go to rest. However, doves in general can be hunted during the whole day as a whole with the hunting for pheasant and quail. Baja Shooting uses decoys along the already pre-established routes with the last thing in the hunt of pigeons. A cintillo is required for the hunt of doves. There are thirty Huilotas Doves for a cintillo, also in the cintillo for the White Winged Doves are thirty, at the present there is no limit to the hunt of Eurasians Dove and do not require cintillos. Hunters can easly completed a cintillo in a afternoon.
- Desert Quail (Gambel’s): Begins in late October and usually end by mid-January. Hunting is among the weeds and along drains and on the borders of farmland. It can be hunt early in the morning or later if you wish. Quail likes to run but the well-trained hunting dogs will stop them. The hunting limits for Quail are 30 birds by cintillo Conditions and Rates
Complete package for Dove and Pheasant hunting: $1,195.00 Dollars’ per person.
Attention: If you register a group of 5 persons the sixth is free. It includes 3 days and 2 nights in private room in a 5 Stars Hotel, roundtrip transportation from the hotel to hunting areas, an assistant, one cintillo for either (quail/pheasant) or (Dove/pheasant), lunch, sodas and the processing of birds.
Semi-guided hunting: The semi-guided hunting or (partially guided) are provided for the hunt of pheasant, dove or quail. These hunts include access to our hunting areas and a young experienced assistant under the supervision of a guide. These hunting parties begin early in the morning as you choose the assistant boy in our operation center. From there you are lead to the best hunting area for the species you have chosen to hunt. All the hunts end in the evening. Then you are returned to the operation center where birds are processed (ready to freeze.)
These hunts are perfect for a hunter that looks for a short shooting party (one or two days) or more multiple entries to Mexico to hunt. Hunters must have their own guns and the require permits for their use in Mexico. Labels or cintillos are not included, but can be purshaded in addition. Hunters must provide their own drinks, meals, and transportation.

Each one Conditions: All fees must be paid in advance. It is required a minimum deposit of 50% of the total cost to set aside the hunting date. Balance will be due thirty days before the scheduled date. All deposits will lose if you are not present or if the balance is not cover in full within the thirty day prior to the scheduled date.
Policy of Individual Behavior Hunting involves the use of lethal weapons that could cause significant damage or death. For their own safety for those engage the consumption of alcoholic beverages are not permitted before or during the hunting. There are well trained hunting dogs available. Baja Shooting reserves the right to end the hunt if it determines that the behavior of the hunter is unsafe. Important: All hunters must carry the contract

Q: Where can I take the plane to arrive to Mexicali? A: the nearest center is San Diego, California and the transportation there to Mexicali is by car. If you are going to rent a car, be sure that the car rental agency will allow you to bring it to Mexico. Most of them do. In the future, we will offer a charter flight service to hunters who wish to fly to the hunting areas. We also have a runway that is ready to receive private flights. Type of aircrafts: Cessna 150 up to Cessna 210.
Q: How is a hunting day in Mexicali’s Valley? A: Getting up early in the morning, a light breakfast at the hotel, then transported to the pheasant hunting area. Close to 11:00 a.m. a light lunch is taken and maybe a little rest, subsequently to return to the place for the hunt of doves or to chase quails through weeds and by the borders of the farmland.
Q: What kind of vehicles is used to transport hunters? A: We have some Pick-ups F 150 4x4 and a Suburban.
Q: What are the weather temperatures during the hunting seasons? A: The range temperatures are from 70º to 80º during the day. We recommend the hunters to use lightweight pants and short-sleeved shirts during the first part of the season. Most of the hunters like to wear shorts during the hunting of doves. There is a low relative humidity in the Mexicali Valley by being part of the desert.
Q: Can I bring shots of shotgun to Mexico? A: Yes, but you must have the Mexican Authorities’ Permit to transport guns. In addition, you are allowed to bring 100 bullets by shotgun caliber. Beware of crossing shots or bullets illegally. This is punished with jail.
Q: What do I need to bring to Mexico my hunting dog? A: Make sure you have the documentation of all vaccines. The Mexican Authorities are not concerned with the importation of dogs. However, U. S. Custom could ask about the health of your dogs. Consult your Veterinarian and the U.S. Custom.
Q: Can I shoot to doves and quails during my pheasant hunting? A: No, one of the great aspects of hunting here it is the variety and the number of birds. You cannot shoot if a dove or quail passes flying.
Q: Why do you lodge the hunters in hotels instead of a house of assistance or motel? A: So, that our clients enjoy the serviceability that our local hotels offers as swimming pools, gymnasiums sport facilities and access to internet just to mention someone. Also you can enjoy the variety of restaurants.
Q: What big is the hunting area? A: Our area for hunting is the biggest of the Mexicali Valley tat amounts up to 5,800 ha. (Acres?) We are provided with most of the best agricultural fields in the Valley under exclusive agreement. Frequently the access to our zones is refuse to others.
Q: What is in the hunt an assistant boy? A: the assistant boys in the hunt are of the locality that they have grown in that zone and they offer their help for hunt. The high temperatures and growth in some fields limit the skill of a dog to find the knocked birds. Q: Can I take the birds that I hunt in Mexico to the USA? A: Yes, as long you have the Mexican Cintillo (label) as legally holder to give it when crossing to the Unites States. What you must do is to fill these form and these authorized you to import them for personal use.
