Quahidi Wildlife & Ranch Retreat is located on 50,000 acres on the L.S. McDowell Ranches in Glasscock, Borden and Howard Counties in West Texas.
Quahadi Wildlife & Ranch Retreat offers the ultimate hunting experience - and so much more. Hunt wild Bobwhite and Scaled (Blue) quail, Whitetail deer, predators (bobcat, fox, coyote and the occasional mountain lion), turkey, and feral hogs. ( snakes, skunk and rabbits).
50,000 acres of family-owned and operated ranch land (since 1883) south and north of Big Spring, Texas in Glasscock, Howard and Borden counties. The ranch is located approximately 1 hour east of the Midland-Odessa airport and about 20 miles from the Big Spring Airpark, which is 250 miles west of Ft. Worth, Texas on Interstate 20.
Quahadi Wildlife specializes in fully-catered packaged hunts with professional outfitters with well-trained dogs, hunting vehicles, a very nice, historic ranch lodge, and home-cooked meals.
We also offer corporate packages and leases, annual and seasonal leases, day hunts and family recreational memberships. In addition, we have a beautiful ranch lodge with a conference center capable of accommodating up to 60 people for conferences, special events, retreats, weddings and parties.
Shotgun Hunts
Wild Bobwhite & Scaled Quail: Some of the best hunting in west Texas for native wild quail is right here on the ranch. We have Bobwhite and Scaled (Blues). The terrain is ideal, with brushy cover and good “edge". It is a country for good bird dogs, which we'll provide with guides, or you may bring your own. You may choose from a fully-catered, all-inclusive packaged hunt, a day hunt, a seasonal or annual lease - or we will customize a package to meet your specific needs.
Mourning Dove, Duck, Sandhill Crane & Turkey: Mourning Dove are abundant in this area. We also have Water Fowl—such as Mallards and Teal—as well as fishing. We are located on a Sandhill Crane flyway with roosting areas along Mustang Draw—where you may see thousands of Sandhill Crane. Rio Grande Turkey are native to this area as well, and even roost by the Lodge and along the Colorado River.
Rifle Hunts
Native Whitetail Deer: We have a good buck to doe ratio. You may harvest Management or Trophy bucks and hunt with bows, legal shotguns or rifles. We manage the populations of deer with hunting limits set by our game manager with your enjoyment for many return visits in mind.
There are 50,000 acres on the two L.S. McDowell Ranches, much of which have deer, quail and other game. Along the upper Colorado River in Borden County, TX are 16,000 acres of Rolling Plains where most of the seasonal and annual leases are located (including fishing). There are 34,000 additional acres on the Glasscock and Howard County Ranch where the Lodge, packaged hunts and some seasonal leases are located.
Hunt Spring Turkey, Coyote, & Feral Hogs: even the occasional mountain lion or bobcat—on 50,000 acres of varied terrain. You may also hunt rabbit or rattlesnake.
Lodging
Enjoy a Luxurious Stay in our luxurious, ranch-style lodge or authentic rock milk house – both situated next to a peaceful pond with big fish.
The Quahadi Lodge and Conference Center sleeps 6-8 people and can comfortably accommodate up to 30 in a conference setting. We can seat 70 for dinner - more if the weather's nice enough to sit outside.
The Quahadi Lodge and Conference Center is composed of an old authentic ranch home, complete with hair on rawhide, wood, and antique furnishing. Once inside, visitors will have actual ranch photographs and activities from the turn of the last century along with Indians, early Spanish, and cowboy artifacts for their viewing pleasures. Two working wood burning stoves and two fireplaces are also available for the comfort of our guests.
A warm and friendly atmosphere in a beautiful historic setting only enhances the breath taking views which make our guest feel relaxed and comfortable. Come and experience the wide open spaces and star-filled nights where glorious sunrises and sunsets enlighten all of God's creations.

We specialize in customized packaged hunts which include professional guides with well-trained dogs, stands with feeders, transportation, home-cooked meals and lodging in our luxurious ranch lodge.
We have listed several packages below, but we will customize specific packages upon request. All hunts and leases require a minimum of 2 people. Discounts are offered for groups of 8 or more - please call us for more details.
Wild Quail Packaged Hunts
We specialize in fully-catered packaged hunts with professional Guides with well-trained dogs, hunting vehicles, a very nice, historic ranch lodge, and meals. Hunters are welcome to bring their own dogs. All of the quail on the Ranch are wild quail and we have both Bobwhite and Blue (Scaled) quail. All packaged hunts require a 4 person minimum.
FULLY CATERED Wild Quail Hunts Including Lodging
3 day Packaged hunts include quality lodging, Professional Guides with dogs, hunting vehicle and meals.
* All people staying and hunting together, or not in more than 2 groups using 1 vehicle/group only.
One half days are the same price as full days on either ranch, and there is a 10 bird limit/person/day on Bobwhite and Blue (Scaled) Quail combined.

Mourning Dove Day Hunts
You may hunt Mourning Dove for a daily hunt fee. No lodging, meals, guides, vehicles or dogs are provided. There is a 2 person minimum on all hunts and leases.

Mourning Dove Packaged Hunts
Mourning Dove hunting in September and October is priced per group of 6 for 1 day hunting and 1 night in our Cozy 3 bedroom 2 bath home. cook your own meals, no dogs or full-time guides provided. All packaged hunts require a 6 person minimum.
Mourning Dove Seasonal Leases
Seasonal leases are offered per person, with a 2 person minimum.
Lodging is available on the Glasscock County Ranch and may be included for an additional fee priced per person per day (depending on the type of lodging selected and the number of hunters). You may choose to stay in our ranch-style lodge, the historic rock house - or from various other types of lodging available. RV hookups and camping are also offered on both ranches.
Additionally, there are also several motels available in the area.
Wild Turkey Day Hunts
Spring Turkey hunts are offered only on our Borden County Ranch. Day hunts are priced per person per day which includes the first gobbler each day. There is a 4 gobbler limit.

Lodging is available on the Glasscock County Ranch, located approximately 1 hour south of the hunting site and may be included for an additional cost per person per day (depending on the type of lodging selected and the number of hunters). You may choose to stay in our luxurious ranch-style lodge, the historic rock house - or from various other types of lodging available. RV hookups and camping is also offered on both ranches.
Additionally, there are also several motels available in the area.
If you are interested in Feral Hogs, we do offer hunts on these as well.
Whitetail Packaged Hunts
We specialize in fully-catered packaged hunts with professional guides, stands and feeders, a very nice, historic ranch lodge, and home-cooked meals.
All packaged hunts are based on a 2 person minimum with accommodations available for up to 12 hunters.
All-inclusive Packaged Hunts
Fully catered packages include luxurious lodging in our ranch-style lodge, professional friendly guides, home-cooked meals, transportation to and from stands with feeders. Field dressing and cold storage of animals is provided at no charge. Professional processing and shipping is available for a fee upon request.

Depending upon rooms or bed availability, non shooters are welcome at $200-$400 each per day, if there are 2 or more paying hunters per room in that group and all the person (s) share the room and bathroom). There can be no more than 1 adult and 2 minor children, who are non-shooters, per hunter.
If there are two or more paying hunters per room then up to 2 children, age (12) and under may occupy the same room (but must stay with parents at all times) at the rate of $200 each per day or night and non-shooting adults and teenagers at the rate of $300 each per day or night. Meals are included and some transportation may be available for licensed drivers not accompanying a hunter in the field.
Feral Hog Hunts
Feral hog hunts are offered on our Borden County Ranch only.
