Being that Cottonwoods Sportsman’s Lodge is a WingshootingDestinations.com Endorsed Lodge, it means that I myself or individuals from within our staff have visited and experienced what this place has to offer. I will first start off by saying that I was impressed at all levels: the hunting was fantastic, the lodge was nice and comfortable, and the hospitality was incredible. Montgomery Smith (General Manager) is onto something very nice at Cottonwoods—1600 acres of prime quail hunting land to be precise. I couldn't have had a better experience than I did at Cottonwoods Sportsman’s Lodge, and everyone there was incredibly nice and helpful. Montgomery and his guide Robert McKee led us through acre after acre of quail hunting bliss. Rhonda, the in-house cook for the lodge, prepared incredible meals, and I ate the best green beans wrapped in brown sugar and bacon possibly imaginable. It was a first for me, but I liked it so much that I tried to recreate her recipe at home the day that I got back from the hunt. Needless to say my version was nowhere near as good as Rhonda’s. You definitely don't want me to start talking about the thickest steak in Alabama that was served to us…the same steak that Montgomery drives 2 hours every week to pick up fresh for each of his guests. All in all, this is an excellent place to quail hunt, and I strongly recommend that you give Montgomery a call. A word to the wise: call Montgomery today! If too many people find out about this jewel in Alabama, we'll have to start booking quail hunts three years in advance!

Deer Hunting
In 2006, for the first time ever, The Cottonwoods Lodge will be offering a select number of White-tail deer hunts. Our properties have been managed for years and never hunted for deer. We have done extensive surveys and have decided that we need to start harvesting some of our herd. We are only going to offer trophy managed three day hunts during the month of January here at the Cottonwoods. In the black belt region of Alabama, the full rut peaks during this time so we know that the action will be hot and your chances of taking home a trophy are at their highest. We have numerous food plots and stands to suit your hunting needs. These hunts include meals and lodging in the luxurious Cottonwoods Lodge as well as the cleaning of your harvest for you.
The Lodge
 Our 4,000 square-foot camp house is centered in a stand of prairie oaks on the banks of a lake. Six bedrooms, a large great room with custom-built bar, a stone fireplace, hardwood floors and wraparound porch make Cottonwoods the place to unwind after a successful day of wing shooting.
We believe in providing quality experiences, and for this reason, as overnight guests of Cottonwoods, your group will enjoy these fine amenities exclusively. We can sleep and service a maximum of 12 and require a minimum of three.
Relaxing after the hunt, cocktails at the bar, fine dining, spacious bedrooms and gracious hosts will make your stay here a memorable one. So come to Cottonwoods and experience more than the hunt.
Fishing

All hunting guests of Cottonwoods are free to fish in our 40-acre lake. Full of bass and bream, it is a fit for any age or skill level. As for the bass, there are no monsters to be caught yet, but 4-pounders are not uncommon and the occasional 7-pounder is enough to make you cast again.
Fish in the comfort of our 16’ bass boat in standing timber or any of the many treetops found throughout the lake. Or, fish the overhanging willows and cattail clumps along the bank.

If you like spinner bait, worm, top water, or crank bait fishing then this lake is for you. Cottonwoods boasts some of the best bass fishing around and you’ll never get bored catching them on what you enjoy most.
