Water Valley Lodge in beautiful Choctaw County, Alabama
Water Valley Lodge is the destination for outdoorsmen looking for a first class hunting operation. Rural Choctaw County offers the finest Alabama quail hunting in the state. Water Valley offers bob white quail hunting, Alabama whitetail deer hunting, Eastern turkey hunting, and wild hog hunting.

Alabama whitetail hunting season runs from October 15 until January 31 each year. During an Alabama whitetail hunting season wild hogs may also be hunted (wild hogs, varmints and predators may be hunted year round in Alabama). Add to this that there is no season nor are there any bag limits on varmints or predators and Alabama is home to the famous January rut.
What this means is a hunter at Water Valley Lodge may hunt whitetail deer, hogs, predators and varmints in the same hunt, with multiple limits on all.
February is the designated "best" month for hog hunting at Water Valley. February is a cold month and the deer hunting pressure is over. The guides at Water Valley are able to devote all efforts to hog hunting only after deer season ends. What a great time to be in Alabama!
Turkey hunting at Water Valley sees some years at 100% success rate. This success does vary from year to year but our guides are second to none. Multiple kills during a turkey hunt is common.
One of the great things about quail hunting at Water Valley is that it may be combined with deer hunting or turkey hunting (Quail hunting is not offered in January.) Another great aspect about quail hunting in Alabama is the length of the season. The season runs from October 15 through March 31.
Turkey Hunt

Turkey Hunting is prime at Water Valley Lodge. Our guided hunts give you the best chance possible of bagging a quailty bird. Turkey Hunting at Water Valley Lodge offers hunters a unique opportunity to match skills against the wiliest game bird of them all, the Eastern wild turkey.
While at Water Valley Lodge a hunter may take one turkey per day, up to five (state law). No jakes or hens may be harvested at Water Valley Lodge.
Guides at Water Valley Lodge are second to none. They have spent their lives hunting and studying this wild bird’s habitat and behavior. Our guides haven’t trained themselves to perform in contests. Their interest is killing turkeys.
Our hunters are in the woods well before daylight. You will be with a guide whether he does the calling or you do the calling. A guest needs a fully guided hunt to take full advantage of the 30,000 acres Water Valley has to offer.
Our turkey package includes private room and bath, meals, housekeeping services, and transportation with a one on one guide.

Whitetail Deer Hunting at Water Valley Lodge located in Alabama. During your deer hunt at Water Valley Lodge, you will find at least three things to be true: we are efficient and organized, our land is plentiful and the terrain is varied and we have plenty of great comfortable stands.
Our days start at 4:00am with a cup of coffee and breakfast in the Dining Hall. At 4:50am we move to the Boot Room where your hunting gear is already organized and in storage in a secure private locker. After you are dressed and geared up, step outside the boot room where our custom build 4x4 vans will be waiting. Your guide will tell you where you are headed for the morning hunt and which van to get in and you will be on your way.
Mid morning your guide will pick you up (unless you have made the decision to hunt all day) and everyone will head to the lodge Boot Room, put away gear and guns then enjoy a short rest and some lunch. As soon as that plate of cookies, hot out of the oven hs been served with a tall glass of milk, it should be about 1:00pm and time to head out again for the afternoon hunt.
At dark, the guides will pick up all hunters, assist in locating wounded game and get everyone back to the Boot Room and Skinning Shed. After unloading hunters to the Boot Room and animals to the Skinning Shed, fires will be lit and supper served. The remainder of the evening is yours...join us by the campfire, play a game of pool or cards in the lounge, or retire to the privacy of your room for a restful night's sleep.

Management at Water Valley Lodge

During deer season, we have two management areas: 6 point area and the 8 point area. In the 6 point area there is no width restriction. The 8 point area has a 15" minimum spread requirement. We do not have any trophy fees however we do charge a fee of $500.00 if the deer taken does not meet the minimum.
The Alabama Department of Conservation on June 15, 2007 adjusted the state limits as follows:
*ANTLERED BUCKS - three during all combined seasons.
This has made it necessary for Water Valley to adjust our limits as well. For the upcoming 2007-2008 season our three day hunters are allowed 3 bucks and 1 doe, our 4 day hunters are allowed 3 Bucks and 2 doe and our 7 day hunters are allowed 3 bucks and 3 does.
