Pheasant Shoots

Are you looking for a fun afternoon for your office, church group or just yourself and a friend? Then join us for one of our upcoming continential pheasant shoots. These shoots are designed to allow plenty of shooting with challenging overhead shots. If you have not tried it then you are missing out on some of the fastest, most exciting shooting action around. The day starts off with a warm up round of skeet to get everyone ready for the hunt. Pheasants are released for a center location with hunters stationed 80 yards out around the perimeter and 70 yards distance between stands. This allows time for the pheasant to gain enough altitude and speed. After 5 birds have been released all hunters rotate stands. 10 birds per person will be released with a maximum of 20 stands. We will have retriever on hand to collect the birds but you may bring your dog as well. At the end of the hunt the birds are divided equally among the hunters. Bird cleaning is available for a nominal fee. Lunch is provided either before or after the hunt depending on the time of the shoot.
If you have a group of 10 or more we can arrange your own pheasant shoot outside of the ones that we have scheduled. You can also add a 1/2 day of quail hunting to your pheasant shoot for a full day of hunting.

Wild Hog Hunting at Black Creek Plantation

Looking for a little excitement ! Wild boar hunting is not for the faint of heart. The excitement of tracking wild boar through the bottom lands of Middle Georgia is sure to be considered an extreme sport. Wild hogs are a very challenging animal to hunt because they possesses keen senses of smelling and hearing. Wild boar are very muscular animal that relies on its speed, wits and brute force to evade hunters. Boars use their sharp tusks to fight for breeding right. These powerful tusks are formidable weapons that sometimes reach five inches in length. Hunting can be arranged to suit your desire. We offer stand hunting, hunting with dogs and still hunting.
Stand Hunting or Still Hunting
You will be hunting free ranging wild hogs on over 2000 acres. Hunting is done from box and ladder stands in areas that the hogs have been using. Expect to see both sows and boars along with young hogs. One hog is included in the price. Additional hogs are $100 each. A typical hunt takes place over two days in order to give the hunter a realistic opportunity to take a hog. Success rates are 50- 60%.
Wild Boar Hunting with Dogs
This is an option that is gaining in popularity for many reasons. It is by far the most exciting and effective way to hunt hogs. When hunting them with dogs, NO FIREARMS or BOWS allowed. Knives and rope only. Two guides go out with two hunters. Once they track dogs, normally curs, locate and bay a hog, the catch dogs will go in and hold the hog for the hunters. At this point the hunters are running through the brush trying to get to the hog and dogs. Upon arriving the guides will talk you through the process of gaining control, flipping the hog and trying the hog up. This type of hunt should be considered dangerous. Sometimes it will be a young 70 lb. boar, a 200 lb. sow with a bad attitude or a 300 lb. boar hog that will take everybody to flip and tie. We use this technique throughout the year with the exception of during firearms deer season and turkey season. This is normally a morning hunt with stand hunting in the afternoon. Maximum of 2 people per guide with dogs. Success rate is 80-90 %.

Deer Hunting
With over 2000 acres and 20 years of quality management, deer hunting at Black Creek Plantation offers the opportunity to harvest the buck of a lifetime. The average buck will gross more than 120 B&C points with our largest buck to date grossing over 155 B&C.
Starting in 2008 Black Creek Plantation will implement a new supplemental feeding program that will allow our bucks to maximize their antler development. 20 - 25 feeders will be installed throughout the property to allow the deer access to high protien pellets throughout the year on a 24/7 basis. The goal is to start producing 150” B&C bucks and above on a yearly basis.
How We Hunt- Most hunting is done from tree stands (climbers, ladder, ground blinds and box stands). You are also welcome to bring your own stands. We scout each tract for months and place stands where we have seen good bucks and buck sign. With over 20 years hunting this property we have the knowledge to help you come eye-to-eye with a nice buck.
One wide typical will score between 160 - 165 B&C and a non-typical that will score in the 190s. The most productive time to get a big buck is during the pre-rut and rut. These prime times are from Oct. 25th - Nov. 20th.
Deer hunting at Black Creek Plantation is limited to 10 members and their guest hunters per year.
