Lewis & Clark
Lewis and Clark in Lawyer Canyon, May 1806:
The Lewis and Clark expedition's route runs directly past the front door of the Flying B Lodge. Here at Treaty Council Camp, Captain Meriwether Lewis struck the first treaty between the United States government and the Nez Perce people. Chief Broken Arm set up a special tipi for the captains at the site and greeted the Corps with a fifteen-star American flag flying from a tall staff in front of his 150-foot long lodge. Stand on the site of Broken Arm's lodge and experience this historical event. Follow the Corp's path to the Clearwater River and listen to tales of their stay at Long Camp, the third longest stay of the entire expedition as they waited nearly a month for the snows to melt from the Lolo Trail across the Bitterroot Mountains.
Wingshooting
Our wingshooting adventures include THREE- DAY / FOUR-NIGHT and TWO-DAY / THREE-NIGHT packages, as well as a CAST-and-BLAST package combining two days of wingshooting with one day of steelhead fishing in a single great package.
Upland species commonly found on the Flying B Ranch are Hungarian partridge, chukar, pheasant, blue and ruffed grouse, and valley quail. Guests hunt over the Flying B Ranch's German Shorthairs and English Pointers, the pride and joy of the operation.

Our hunting areas are accessed by customized vehicles. Each outing is a personalized experience providing plenty of shooting with no bag limits. Our rate per person includes shells for each hunter, as well as one round of championship sporting clays (time permitting).
The timbered ridges and brushy draws of Lawyer Canyon hide elusive ruffed and blue grouse. Find yourself in the upland pastures, where a mix of pheasant, Hungarian partridge, and quail will challenge your shooting abilities. Pursue chukar on the open slopes and rocky hillsides, or hunt the valley floor for abundant pheasant, and large coveys of Huns.
Big Game
The Flying B Ranch is dedicated to making your trip successful, rewarding, safe and comfortable. We encourage you to use these gear lists in preparing for your hunt and to help make it more enjoyable. These hunting adventures are in great demand and have limited space so book your hunt early! Don't hesitate to contact Scott Van Winkle, our Big Game Manager, for detailed information.
The Flying B Ranch holds exclusive outfitting rights to over 740,000 acres of the Clearwater and Nez Perce National Forests under special use permit from the United States Forest Service (permit map).
Combined with the 5000 acres at the Flying B Ranch (ranch map), we offer our guests one of the largest land concessions in Idaho for hunting elk, whitetail and mule deer, black bear, cougar, bobcat, moose and turkey.
Elk

Idaho is known for their exceptional Rocky Mountain Elk hunting in some of the most vast and untouched areas in the lower 48. Our seasoned guides will pack you into the backcountry for what is truly a hunt of a lifetime.
Our elk hunts are 7-8 days in length and are fully guided (1:1) with a full time chef and meat packer. Accommodations far exceed industry standards to allow for a comfortable and memorable experience. We do everything to provide guests with the most comfortable backcountry camp facilities possible. Tents and camp gear are top-of-the-line and our meals are sure to please the taste buds after a long day in the field.
With the diversity of wildlife present in our wilderness areas, we are able to offer our elk hunts in conjunction with Shiras Moose, Black Bear, Gray Wolf, Whitetail and Mule Deer at no extra charge! Elk hunting in Idaho is challenging and surely tests ones physical and mental capabilities.
Deer

With only a select number of hunts per year, our experienced guides take you onto our 5000 acre ranch for trophy class deer with a spot and stalk method of take that makes for an unforgettable experience.
The ranch is nestled in a deep canyon with many draws, meadows, and rock bluffs for deer to flourish. We pride ourselves on our deer herd management as harvest is watched closely and scouting is done extensively throughout the entire year, taking only mature bucks and select management deer.
These 5 day hunts are conducted out of our luxurious lodge with all the amenities included. If you tag out early you may shoot birds over our pointing dogs or wet a fishing line in the Clearwater River for Steelhead. These hunts are conducted in October and November making this rut hunt very interactive with your personal guide and hunting buddies.
Once your out here, you will understand why our deer hunts are rebooked the most out of any of our big game adventures!
Bear

Steep-sided slopes blanketed with thick forests, vast brush fields and alpine meadows; a mosaic habitat created in the early part of the 20th century by catastrophic fires. This formulates exceptional habitat for Idaho's prized animal the North American Black Bear.
It's no wonder why our hunting areas average over 2.5 bears per square mile. Using both spot/stalk and baiting methods of harvest, we guide you into North Central Idaho's greatest concentration of bears where a 2 bear harvest is allowed. The beauty of the color phases of our bears is what attracts many of our hunters. Prizing ourselves on 90%+ success rate, our guests harvest 30-40 bears per season from either our luxurious log lodge or backcountry camps.
As with all of our hunts, youth (12-17) hunt for half price with a full paying adult! Our bear hunts occur during the months of April through June accommodating large groups of 6 or more. With many camps and hunting options, we will make your hunting trip with us unforgettable.
Fishing

The Flying B Ranch offers summer Westslope Cutthroat and Rainbow trout from our Osprey Creek Camp on twenty-seven miles of unspoiled catch-and-release fishing water.
We offer Steelhead fishing adventures from our Orvis endorsed fly-fishing lodge from September 1st through March 31st. We fish the Clearwater River, a nationally recognized steelhead fishery, and we have access to over seventy miles of this pristine water.
One of the Ranch's most popular adventures, our Cast-and-Blast package, combines two days of wingshooting with one day of steelhead fishing in one great package.
Summer in the backcountry, Steelhead from the Lodge or Cast-and-Blast, fishing at the Flying B is an adventure everyone can and should experience.
