Welcome to Tradewater Outfitters!
We are proud to offer our guests a premiere opportunity to hunt in some of the finest upland country in Kentucky. As you make your way across our fields of native warm season grasses mixed with a variety of food sources, you will encounter covey after covey of quail, enjoy as our finely trained pointers set the stage, and the ground around you erupts with the sound of beating wings and shotgun reports. Ring neck pheasants, and chukar are abundant and we offer you the chance to a hunt single species or a mixed bag. In any event the result will be the same, a fulfilling wingshooting experience in the field.
Begin your wingshooting adventure at 7:30 with a large country breakfast of eggs, sausage, ham, bacon, and of course, biscuits and gravy, all prepared fresh from scratch in our kitchen. After breakfast you will be given a short safety briefing and an overview of our schedule. At approximately 8:30 am you will be greeted by your guide in the locker room and taken to your hunting course. Since all of our hunts are “no limit” your hunt will continue until lunch. During your lunch break someone from our staff will be available to attend to any needs that may arise. We will then refresh the dogs, load more shells and continue to hunt until about 4:30.
When the afternoon hunt is complete, come in and enjoy one of the many lodge amenities such as a sauna, or a rest in the hot tub. Available upon request is a masseuse who will work out those achy muscles after a long day in the field. Enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine before setting down to a fine dinner menu steeped with Kentucky tradition.
Upland Game Hunting

Mallard Duck Hunting
Within minutes of our lodge we can be set up and ready to watch as the sky comes to life with the sights and sounds of mallard ducks. Our facility provides you the unique opportunity to hunt released mallards. This simply means there is “no limit”; hunt as long as you like. With the unpredictability of wild duck hunting {which we do also offer} we found this to be a great add on to our wing shooting offering, especially when inclement weather prevents us from upland hunting.
All state and federal license and stamps are required. As prescribed by law, hunters must use non-toxic shot. .We recommend booking early to ensure that we have an adequate supply of ducks on hand for your outing.
Wild Turkey Hunting
Nothing is more exciting than the sound of a big ol’ mature gobbler letting the woods know he is the boss. As the echo resonates throughout the woods and the frosty chill of the spring morning air fills your lungs, you make your way towards him, closer and closer, finally you are in position and with the help of one of our guides you bring him in range, Your breathing gets faster but you dare not move.. It’s on; you’re looking right down the barrel as this beautiful creature struts and gobbles. This is how it feels.
We have an outstanding turkey population and due to the habitat structure and feed base left for uplands, our turkeys are some of the heaviest birds you will find anywhere in Kentucky. Our largest bird to date is a big triple beard that weighed in at 29 1⁄2 lbs with 33 1⁄2 total inches of beard. His spurs measured 3 7/8".
We love to turkey hunt and we are good at it .If you want a trophy bird on your wall, we are definitely the ones to call.
