Come on Maine Duck Hunts and hunt the picturesque Maine Coast where Eiders, Oldsquaws and Scoters winter in amazing numbers. With a limit of seven ducks per day, a selective drake shooting is practiced to ensure population growth. The Maine Sea Duck Hunting style at Penobscot Bay Outfitters is set up with the trophy hunter in mind. We will be set up to hunt at the opening of legal shooting time to sunrise. This will give us the chance at seeing the morning flights of Sea Ducks and Puddle Ducks. After the morning Maine Sea Duck Hunts we often go right to Maine Puddle Duck Hunting or Maine Sea Duck Hunting if the hunters would like to hunt for Black Ducks, Goldeneyes, or some of the other diving Ducks Maine has to offer.

Come hunt Maine for sea ducks, turkey, whitetailed deer, black bear or fish the beautiful coast of Maine for striped bass.
OUR EQUIPMENT
We hunt from the Seaworthy 21' foot Goliath boat with a 115hp Evinrude E-Tec Motor and a 21' TBD with a 115 Johnson. Hunting and traveling in one boat eliminates dangerous ocean transfers or transfers to slippery ledges and rocks. With these boots we don’t have to worry about the rise and fall of the tide like ledge Hunting Outfitters do. Our boat rides to the Hunting areas are only about 5 to 10 minutes not an hour or two like others. These boats allow for easy pickup of the decoys to move to another area if for some reason an area does not produce. This and liberal Duck limits will make this a waterfowling experience like no other. Our boats are kept in top shape with new motors, radios, GPS and safety equipment.

GUNS AND SHELLS
We strongly suggest 12 or 10 gauge shotguns with 3", 3 1/2" or 2 3/4" chambers with modified chokes (no full chokes). Shotguns must be plugged to hold no more than three shells, ammunition must be nontoxic shot in either #3, #2 or #1 shot. A cleaning kit is also recommended due to the salt water exposure.
DUCKS
Maine has a strong nesting population of Eiders along with thousands of migrants. There are three species of Scoters: the whitewing. Black and Surf, also large flights of Oldsquaws. For puddle ducks we have blacks, mallards, two species of Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, Hooded, Red Breasted and American Mergansers. These are the most common for Maine Duck Hunting. We also see Scaup, Ringnecks, Canadian geese, King Eiders and Pintails.

SEASON
Sea Duck Hunting usually begins October 1st and lasts through mid January with seven ducks per day limits. Puddle Duck Hunting is usually a 50 to 60 day split season with a four or five bird limit.
YOUR DUCK HUNTING EQUIPMENT
Due to the Maine weather you will need camo parkas, 2 pair warm waterproof gloves, warm facemask, rain gear, your gun, at least 2 boxes shells per day, hipwaders, chestwaders or waterproof pants along with a camera for those memorable photos for Maine Duck Hunting.
TURKEY HUNTS
Maine Spring turkey hunts are offered, permit only, in the mid coastal area. With large numbers of turkeys in this region success rates are very good. Using proper calling and scouting a hunt with us will be memorable. We hunt at local dairy farms, fields and wooded areas for our turkeys. You will be Maine turkey hunting with decoys and be accompanied by guides that have been hunting this zone since the first year it opened. We have harvested many nice turkeys, so you need to book in time because dates go fast.

rates:
1 day hunt $200.00 3 day hunt $350.00
UPLAND HUNTS
We hunt parties of one to eight hunters so the hunt will be personal for all to enjoy. We also book morning sea duck hunts with afternoon puddle duck or deer hunts when in season. Ruffed grouse or woodcock hunting over your bird dog is also available.
LODGING AND MEALS
We now offer Canadian goose hunts in September, October and November. Goose hunts will be decoy hunts in fields or on the water. We use Bigfoot and Real Geese Decoys along with hay bale blinds and final approach blinds.

With a new season on deer in Maine during September bow hunts on the Coastal Islands are now offered during September and October with high success rates on large bucks.
We also guide moose hunters with bow or firearms in October. - Permit is required.
These hunts are held in October on the mid-coast. The season opens the first part of the month and runs to the end for ruffed grouse and woodcock. The limits are three each and the possession limit is double. These hunts are leisurely, we get up at around 7 am then have breakfast. We will then take a short drive to start hunting.

We normally hunt 3 or 4 covers before lunch. After lunch we will hunt 3 or 4 more covers or until you want to get done. Then we return to the lodge for dinner. The mid-coast of Maine has a large number of old farms and some clear cuts. There are many Apple orchards to hunt. These produce good numbers of flushes for Maine Grouse and Woodcock. We have flushing labs or you can bring your own dogs. We can also make combination hunts with Canadian Geese, Sea Ducks, Puddle Ducks, or Bow Hunts for Deer.
Penobscot Bay Outfitters also offers a great fishing experience. We have Fishing Charters and Striper Charters on the Kennebec.
