In the lush and fertile lands of Eastern Mississippi lies Circle M Plantation. This magnificent Southern plantation boasts of more than 75 years of hunting heritage along the Noxubee River. It was the gentlemen’s pursuit of the elusive and wary Bobwhite quail that has distinguished Circle M Plantation as one of the South’s finest hunting destinations.

Today those same hallowed shooting grounds are being made available to the public on a limited basis for the true Southern quail, turkey, and white tail deer hunting experience. We work diligently to provide our guests with comfortable surroundings, gourmet Southern food and the opportunity for the genuine companionship that one finds in the outdoors. So whether your interests are for business, family entertainment, or an exciting day afield with your friends, Circle M Plantation would like to welcome you to our family of satisfied clients. We will do our best to ensure that you have a memorable outdoor experience and plan to come again.
The various services and amenities of Circle M Plantation have been designed for corporate as well as family entertainment. So whether you want to host a business meeting for your select staff or spend a few days with your most important clients or vacation with your family, we are here for you. So when the best and only the best will do for you or your clients and friends, Circle M Plantation is the place you'll come to call your second home.
History
The property of Circle M Plantation, like most of the area's earlier settlements, was a working cotton plantation more than 150 years ago. It was established as Paulette Plantation by Thomas Blasengame Paulette, a South Carolina native who came to the Noxubee area in 1863. Sometime between 1860 and the first decade of the 20th century, the plantation was called Ridgeway, and was owned by Paulette heirs. Later it was called Auyaka Lodge, before it became known as Circle M Plantation sometime in the 1920s.
Among the series of the property's owners was the one-time governor of the state of Oklahoma, E. W. Marland, who held the plantation between 1911 and 1928, and established a game reserve. The hunting for various species of game birds and animals proved to be simply superb, and some years later the presidents of General Mills, Archer-Daniels and Weyerhauser purchased the plantation for its fabulous quail hunting. Under the management of this group of owners, the property became a working farm with tenant farmers. The plantation operated until the 1970's. John Moll, an entrepreneur and avid quail hunter from Memphis, purchased Circle M in the early 1990's and began the process of the renovation of the old, history-steeped property to renew it to its longtime use, as a gentleman's hunting lodge.

In 2003 three families in Birmingham purchased the Circle M for their family and business use. These folks have hunted and fished together for many years in locations as far afield as Europe, Patagonia, and Alaska, but their love for hunting our native game in home banks led us to purchase the Circle M. Fortunately, there was the perfect place to build the 54 acre Lake Carol, which we are developing into a trophy bass lake, allowing us to continue pursuit of our love for fishing on the same property. Since the owning families and their businesses do not use the full capacity of the Circle M, we are happy to share it with others who love the outdoors on a limited commercial basis. We are managing our habitat and wildlife with the best practices to continuously enhance the hunting and fishing experience at Circle M.
Hunting
At Circle M Plantation, we have gone the extra mile to insure that your hunt with us will be an experience of a lifetime. That’s why we’ve carefully managed our large acreage of fields and woodlands specifically for premier whitetail deer, Bobwhite quail, and Eastern wild turkey hunting.
Our fields have been planted with only the best foods to attract these types of game, and the success of past hunts truly speaks for itself.
Throughout years of development, we have striven to bring back a part of Americana that is fast disappearing—the abundance of wildlife, the calming call of the Bobwhite quail and great dog work.
Locker Room Our locker room is provided to store your hunting gear and guns overnight.
Safety We want your visit with us to be both enjoyable and safe. That’s why before hunting, each Circle M Plantation guest is required to watch a short video or participate in a safety meeting outlining the rules of safety and hunting etiquette that are practiced at the Plantation.
Service Regardless of whether you’re hunting deer, quail or turkey with us, your game will be properly processed and stored in our spacious walk in game cooler until your departure.
Skeet & Sporting Clays Whether you want to take a few warm-up shots before your quail hunt or just bang away at a few clays for its recreational enjoyment, we’ve got you taken care of. Circle M Plantation features a regulation skeet field as well as a state of the art Five-Stand Sporting Clays game exhibiting the exciting BirdBrain system.
These games are loads of fun and can be played either individually or in groups of up to five shooters per round. Either way, clay target shooting at the Plantation is a blast.

This area of Eastern Mississippi has long been renowned for its ability to grow mature whitetail bucks with massive antlers. And at Circle M Plantation, we’ve got some of the best deer hunting found in America. We strictly control the numbers of deer harvested so that our herd remains healthy, and our buck to doe ratio is kept in proper balance.
More than fifty food plots have been planted specifically for our large deer population. Hunting takes place from comfortable blinds strategically placed around areas noted for harboring big bucks.
We are on a strict trophy management program, which allows bucks to reach a mature age. We provide them both opportunities for archery and rifle hunts on a limited basis. By limiting the number of hunters and deer harvested, we will always be able to provide you with a chance to take that trophy whitetail of a lifetime.

Fishing

Fishing in our stocked 54-acre bass lake, Lake Carol, is a highlight of any visit to Circle M Plantation.
Lake Carol was constructed with the goal of maximizing fish habitat and subsequent fishable water to create a world class bass fishing lake.
Most lakes are created by pushing up dirt from the deepest part of the lake to build a dam. This method creates a large bowl shaped area with no changes in elevation or contour. In addition the trees are dozed into large piles and burned. The existing creek channels in most cases are destroyed.
In contrast, the dam at Lake Carol was constructed using earth moving equipment (Pans) to dig ditches, creating ridges and humps throughout the lake. There are changes in the bottom contour almost everywhere. In addition the two creek channels through the lake were left undisturbed. Most of the trees were cut and harvested but large stumps and some standing trees were left behind. Both of the traversing creeks are about 5 to 6 feet deep, lined with large stumps and full of brush and small trees. These creeks will be home to the largest fish in the lake.

The shallow end of the lake has numerous ditches cut perpendicular to the creek channels. In many cases the dirt was pushed into mounds or humps next to the creeks. Lake Carol has very little “dead” water, or areas that will not hold fish. The maximum depth is 25 feet and it maintains its design elevation consistently.
The lake was stocked in 2006 with F-1 Tiger bass. These 2 ½ year old bass now average between 3 – 4 pounds.
When fishing at Lake Carol, you will have full use of a boat, boat house, and picnic shelter. Fish below 14 inches may be kept plus ONE trophy fish above 7 lbs. We will clean, package and freeze any harvested fish or cook them for your consumption in our dining room.
Fishing in Lake Carol Package - $475 Fishing Only - $300 One-Half Day Fishing Only - $150 Add to any other hunting package - $100
