Offering Orvis endorsed wingshooting, Sage Safaris is home to a variety of wild birds such as Sharptail Grouse, Hungarian Partridge, and Pheasants. You will likely encounter all of these species during the course of your stay. Our habitat is a mixture of cropland and native plants, traversed by meandering waterways, making it ideal for upland game.
A typical day begins in the crisp fall air with only canvas to separate you from your remarkable surroundings. A beautifully prepared breakfast awaits in the lodge, at a time of your choice. After breakfast your guide will lead you on the morning hunt from the door of your tent. You will have the opportunity to hunt all three species of upland birds before returning to the lodge for a 2 course leisurely lunch. After a short rest your guide will lead you back into the field to hunt a new area. Enjoy an English afternoon tea in the field "A Colonial Safari Tradition" or sundowners a little later in the evening. After washing off the dust of the day in your private wet room, enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres whilst you experience stunning views of the Great Plains and seemingly unending expanse of sky. A gourmet dinner is served with complementary wine followed by an exquisite dessert. Enjoy what is left of the evening around the fire recalling the highlights of the day while you listen to the coyotes howling in the distance under the striking Milky Way.
All birds live wild on our land making our hunting challenging and unpredictable. Due to the nature of wild bird hunting, we encourage our guests to book for a minimum of three days to ensure a successful hunting experience. Guests should be prepared for 4-8 miles of gentle walking per day as all bird hunting is done on foot. Guests are encouraged to bring their own dogs, however, we also have our own experienced team of dogs for those unable to do so.
The upland hunting season at Sage Safaris runs from the beginning of September to the end of November each year. Montana upland hunting seasons for Sharptail and Huns start the beginning of September and usually last through January. The Montana pheasant hunting season begins in mid-October and usually also lasts through January; however, we offer pre-season pheasant hunting for early released pheasants from the beginning of September in selected hunting areas. Due to weather considerations, we will not normally accept bookings for those wishing to hunt after the end of November.
A minimum of 3 guests per booking is required for exclusive use; bookings of less than 3 persons may be asked to share the camp with an additional party of 1 or 2 guests, but will be assigned their own guide and hunt independently.
Wingshooting Packages include accommodation in our luxury safari camp, exclusive hunting rights to our land for the length of your stay, 3 gourmet meals a day, dinner on the day of arrival, breakfast on the day of departure, airport or rail transfers from Havre, guides and dogs, transportation to and from hunting areas, complimentary round of clays, cleaning, vacuum packaging and freezing of game.
Wingshooting Packages can be combined with fly fishing, waterfowl & big game hunts as well as tours of Montana’s National Parks and local attractions. See Additional Activities page for details

4 day 5 night wingshooting package - $4,400 per person
Additional days: $1,000 per person
Single Person Supplement: $400 per day
Non hunting guests: $300 per night
Shotgun Rental: $100 per guest per visit

Montana hunting licenses, Montana Lodging Tax (1.75% of total booking price), shotgun rental, ammunition, shipment of frozen game not taken away in person, & gratuities. Please note that there is an additional 3% charge for credit cards.

We know gentlemen that its tricky getting a group of you organized to come on a hunting trip and it’s even harder to persuade your other half to let you! So this year why not bring your partner with you? For non-hunting guests we are offering a special 4 night 3 day tranquillity package to include luxury tented accommodation with their hunting partner, 3 gourmet meals a day plus a relaxing massage, a nail treatment & game drive with a sun downer for both guests for $1500. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the wide open spaces, the peace and quiet plus enjoy a little pampering! This should make everyone happy!
Trip Planning Package
If you and your group need an extra hand getting organized why not allow us to take the stress out of planning a trip by letting us take care of all the time consuming details for you. We’ll co-ordinate your group and make your flight and car reservations for you. Simply add $200 per person to your package price and all you will need to do is pack your suitcase! It couldn’t be easier. Leave the stress of trip planning to us.
Guide services are provided through Swan Safaris, LLC under licensed outfitter Patrick M. Tabor License #11300. All other services and amenities are provided by Sage Safaris LLC.
Payment:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking; the remaining 50% is payable 30 days prior to arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
The 50% non-refundable deposit can be applied to a future hunt for cancellations made more than 30 days in advance of scheduled arrival. Parties arriving with fewer guests than booked will still be charged the full price. We accept all major credit cards.
