"Pheasant Hunting Year Round" Over 50 Years Experience Southern Ohio best quality bird hunt for pheasant, quail and other hunts! "Dedicated to a higher standard of upland bird hunting and your outdoor experience"
Mulberry Pheasantry was established in 1953 as a family-owned business dedicated to producing top quality birds. The Petry family specializes in raising and releasing quality feathered birds, indistinguishable from the wild, native birds of the area; healthy and active birds only raised and released.
The operation has been expanded to public hunting - open field hunting and tower shoots. The tower release is in a totally natural setting. Birds are released from a 65 foot cliff overlooking a beautiful meandering creek surrounded by 20 acres of pristine prairie grass and natural woodlots.
This is 'natural' hunting, you may fully expect to work for your birds. No fat, slow birds; these flush hard and fly fast!
1 pheasant free with each 10 pheasants bought (Regular hunts only) Tower shoots only 13.00 per bird

Zones

Quail Ridge - the most arduous hunting area, for those who like the ultimate challenge in varied terrain. Gently rolling prairie grasses, hedge apple and fir trees, briar patches, creek bottoms, hills and fence lines; this zone has it all...if you can persevere! (Quail heaven!)
Grass Valley - serene prairie grass valley surrounded by tree lines on all sides. Perfect for a small secluded hunt or for those hunters who do not wish to use dogs and prefer 'walking' up their game birds.
Pheasant Run Overlook - a Milo covered valley bordered by a creek and fence lines, with the fourth side traversing to a brush and Milo covered plateau also bordered by fence lines. This zone is highly recommended for those who use flushing dogs, the birds love to run between the Milo and brushy areas, making for great 'jump' shooting as well as traditional point and flush shooting.
Swampy Hollow - prairie grasses, briars, tree lines, 'tule' marshes and a creek are in this zone. If you have ever hunted game birds in Oregon or California this area will seem like you're not in Ohio for a hunt. This zone is a premier Chukar and Quail release area.
Kansas Maize - Milo field bordered by fence lines on three sides and a lane on the fourth. A small 'island' of trees and brush in the zone is the perfect escape area for loose birds and almost always affords hunters a surprise or two.
Hoosier Hills - gently rolling Milo fields which converge on a steep tree and brush lined hill which drops to a smaller Milo patch, reminiscent of a hunt on an Indiana farm. If the birds reach the hill they will almost certainly try doubling back on the dogs and hunters, earning the hill the name of 'double-cross ridge'.
Iowa Flats - a small, Milo area bordered by fence lines and a lane. This zone is perfect for one or two hunters with young dogs in training or for those hunters who experience mobility problems. If a hunter has trouble with rough terrain or extended walks in the field this area is perfect, still providing excellent shooting as well as ease of movement.
Rooster Hill - a large Milo field bordered by tree lines and prairie grasses on three sides. This zone is quite large and will support up to a group of ten hunters in line with ease. For a 'driven' hunt with young shooters this zone is the optimum choice, hunters will never be out of sight or in difficult cover. (Ask us about 'Glory Corner')

Tower Valley - where the operation first began; a large valley bordered on three sides by a creek and a wooded elevation on the fourth. The valley contains Milo and brush patches in numerous varieties to give both hunters and their dogs the ultimate upland bird hunting experience.
Tower Shoot - birds are released off a 65 foot cliff and hunters have the option of taking the birds as they descend or hunting them up in Tower Valley after they have landed, plus picking up any stray birds or missed birds from the release point. The tower release provides all hunters with a fast-paced wing shooting scenario every time out.
In a tower shoot, hunters are in a fields and birds are released one at a time from a cliff. Birds fly through trees and across a creek. Price for tower shoots are $160.00 per person and include: 10 pheasants each and after the release each shooter is given 2 hours to hunt loose birds ( at no extra charge). We will customize each tower shoot to fit your needs. If your shooting party has atleast 4 shooters you can pick your date and time. If an individual would like to join a tower shoot, we will help organize a group and date for the shoot.
Guided Hunts - Mulberry Pheasantry will be happy at any time to provide guides and dogs for any hunting party. the guides are skilled hunters and expert dog handlers and will work with all hunters, novice to advanced; to make certain that your experience is enjoyable and like no other preserve hunt in this region. Dogs provided with guides can be German Shorthair Pointers, Golden Retrievers, Brittainys, Weimeraners and even Beagles! Pointing dogs or flushing dogs, Mulberry Pheasantry will fulfill the desires of all upland bird hunters, this is Mulberry Pheasantry's goal and motto.
Dog Training - our zones are open year-round for dog training in or out of State seasons. If you wish to train your dogs in an area of your choice stop by at any time and pick up Pheasant, Chukar or Quail in any variety or quantity for your training needs.
** Author's Note ** When asked by Tony Petry on many occasions which hunting zone is my favorite I am always forced to tell him "All of them!"
Once you have had the experience of upland bird hunting at Mulberry Pheasantry you will wholeheartedly agree with my viewpoint, I can virtually guarantee it.

Info
All Ohio hunting laws must be obeyed. Ohio residents must have a valid hunting license, non-residents are exempt. Hunter orange must be worn at all times. No alcoholic beverages are permitted before or during hunts or field dog training.
We also welcome out of state and international hunters to our place.

We pride ourselves in making your hunting experience one you not forget. Once you are in our fields you will quickly forget you are on a hunting preserve. We believe that the terrain and cover are as important as the birds we put out.
Our Quail hunts are like the hunts that used to be years ago with very explosive coveys that fly fast and far.
Our pheasants look and act like the wild ones and are a challenge to shoot.

Hunters may wish to try our Combo Hunt, with the Combo Hunt six or more birds per hunter are released from the tower cliff. Hunters have the option of taking the birds as they fly down or waiting until they land for the traditional field hunt. This is an outstanding hunting method for the younger hunter or the senior hunter wishing to avoid extended walks in the field.
While you wait for the birds to be released you can relax in our rustic cedar cabin clubhouse nestled in a beautiful, mature woodlot. A perfect setting for your spouse or family to relax while hunters are in the field or tower shooting birds, or to rest and prepare a lunch under the trees with the provided grill and picnic table.
The cabin will soon be available for a primitive camping experience. Cots, food prep area and heater will be in the cabin. A fire pit, picnic area and horseshoe pit are also provided. NO electricity, radio or televisions are in the cabin, the beauty and music of nature are provided for your absolute enjoyment.
Campers will have approximately 80 acres of pristine wilderness for hiking and nature walks. Walk quietly along the creek to the historic covered bridge, examining the flora and fauna of the woodlots and prairie.
Native animals campers might see at any time are white-tailed deer, wild turkey, coyote, rabbit, squirrel, possum, skunk and a myriad of native bird species. A leisurely stroll also allows campers to view the bird pens.
