Testimonials
I have made an annual pilgrimage to Central PA to hunt upland game for the past 13 years. During that 13 year period I have been fortunate to have also been able to hunt in other parts of the US and Canada. I have made several trips to Canada, South Dakota, Nebraska, California, Maine and Georgia not to mention my home state of Ohio. I am not stating this to impress anyone, rather to impress upon you that the time I have spent at Spring Lane Hunt Club ranks at the top of my list for overall hunting experience. The fields provide excellent cover and the birds fly "wild." The dog work is exceptional and the scenery is out of a magazine. JD Kelly is a wonderful guide and gamekeeper. He provides his guest with the confidence you desire in a guide but also with a good sense of humor that makes you feel as if you have been long time hunting buddies.
The accommodations are so fine that you will find yourself taking your boots off at the door. If my wife knew how nice the accommodations were she would insist on tagging along on the next trip. I would give the highest marks available for this "well kept secret" in beautiful Sinking Valley. Matthew Van De Motter, OH
J.D., Thanks for a great day on Saturday. Your farm is great and you run a 1st class operation. Jimmy, MD
Habitat
We believe that habitat is the key to Pheasant hunting, just as it is in the management of any wildlife. Since the fall of 2004 we have been focusing on managing our land to benefit the wildlife as well as the hunter.
In the spring of 2005 we dedicated 200 acres of the 500 acres we manage into native grasslands. By giving Pheasants a haven to live and rest in, many other species have also greatly benefited. Next we planted over a 1,000 trees and shrubs along a half mile stream in order to provide cover for Pheasants to access water and help improve the over all water quality.
As we moved into the spring of 2006 we planted 20 acres of fence rows and wind breaks that consist of over 1,000 evergreens and 5,000 shrubs. These fence rows play a vital part in Pheasants being able to "winter-over" and reproduce in the wild.
With each spring we have been adding more and different food plots as we learn what is more beneficial for the Pheasants and variety of other wildlife. We plan on planting close to 10 different food plots this spring with everything from Milo and Sunflowers to Corn and Soybeans.
We believe the key to quality hunting and wildlife truly is Habitat.
