Cedar Hill Lake Retreat offers one of the best outdoor packages on the market. With our full service lodge, famous Georgia quail hunting, trophy bass lake, and personable staff, we are sure you will have a wonderful experience.
Along with the Quail hunting and fishing, we offer a variety of activities that cater to the outdoor enthusiast, corporate client, or family retreat.
We are located 65 miles north of Atlanta and just minutes off of I-75. Although we are conveniently located, our private setting will make you feel miles away from it all. Whether you are here for a day, night, or week, our staff is committed to making your experience at Cedar Hill Lake Retreat a memorable one. We look forward to seeing you soon!
 
Georgia’s famous quail hunting tradition continues at Cedar Hill Lake Retreat. Our fast flying birds, spectacular bird dogs, and professional guides make for a great wing shooting experience for the seasoned quail hunter as well as the first timer. We customize your hunt to meet your personal needs. Jeeps pulling bird buggies will take you to your hunting area. Walking behind the well-trained bird dogs to fully enjoy the hunting experience is encouraged, but walking can be minimized if required or requested. Although we are flexible in helping you fulfill your hunting desires, we emphasize SAFETY and will not compromise our SAFETY program.
We only hunt up to 2 hunting parties per day, limiting the number of hunters to 6 per day.
For our guests that are hunting the day only, the following is our schedule:
- Arrive the day before your hunt and enjoy some warm up shooting, making a few casts, or exploring the place followed by dinner @ 7:00 PM
- The next day breakfast is served @ 7:30AM
- The morning hunt begins @ 8:45AM and concludes @ 11:45AM
- Lunch is served @ 12:30PM
- The afternoon hunt begins @ 2:00PM and concludes @ 5:00PM
For our guests that are hunting the day only, the following is our schedule:
- Half Day Hunts begin @ 9:00 AM and concludes @ 12:00 Noon
- Full Day Hunts begin @ 9:00 AM and concludes @ 3:00PM
We also offer Continental Pheasant “Tower” Shoots. Our 30foot tall tower stands in the middle of the 12 shooting stations that circle the tower. 200 Pheasants are released one at a time for some fast and challenging shooting. After the shoot, you will enjoy a nice lunch under the pavilion by the fireplace or on the patio overlooking the lake. The birds will be cleaned and split among the shooters. If you have a Rooster that you want mounted, we can have that arranged for you. This type shoot is challenging for the experience hunter and will be exciting and manageable for the novice. You can also book a hunt exclusive to you and your group. It makes for a great corporate outing. 
 Our accommodations consist of The Main Lodge and The Guest House. The Main lodge has 4 bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms as well as a great room, dinning room, enclosed sun porch all overlooking the lake. All meals are served in the Main Lodge or in the adjacent pavilion next to the large outdoor fireplace. The Guest House sits just yards from the Main Lodge and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and is handicap accessible. We have all the amenities of home and for those who can’t leave work behind, we have high speed Internet.
Our accommodations allow for up to 12 guests. We require a minimum of 2 guests per party. We do not mix hunting parties, but you will be able to meet new friends during our family style meals, or while enjoying sitting by our outdoor fireplace discussing crooked barrels or straightened hooks.
We do offer a lease the lodge package from April through September. This is a great package for a combo Fishing/Golfing/Clays outing. It is also a great package for a family or families get away. We will be glad to help coordinate or suggest your days’ activities. Our staff is available to help in any way possible.
| Cedar Hill Lake is a man made lake that was constructed in 1945. Until 1973 the lake was known as Nelson Lake. In 1973 the lake was drained so that islands, peninsulas, and underwater structure could be added to beautify the lake and enhance the fishing. In 1991 the lake was again drained so more underwater structure could be added and be restocked with Bluegill, Shell Cracker, and Florida Largemouth Bass. We continue to manage the lake with the help of an aquatic biologist to maximize the fishing potential. We do this through fertilization, supplemental feeding, and removing substantial numbers of fish each year. Although we have very liberal creel limits now, these can change based on the fish population in the lake. |

| Catching a 5LB or even a 10LB bass is not uncommon at Cedar Hill Lake, nor is it uncommon to catch over 100 pan fish in an afternoon – And what a blast catching them with a ultra-light spinning rod or a zero weight fly rod! In early April this year there were over 1000 Crappie, Bluegill, and Shell Cracker caught in just 4 days. Cedar Hill Lake Retreat also has a 3acre catfish pond that is available for our guests. |
Whether you are Fly Fishing from the front yard or casting from one of our V hull stable boats, you are sure to have a great time at Cedar Hill Lake Retreat. You are welcome to bring your own boat but remember trolling motors only (cranking of power motor is prohibited). If you are staying several days, keep your boat in one of our covered dock slips and keep your batteries charged overnight. We have a liberal creel limit that allows for the freshest fish fry or we can clean, package, and freeze your catch prior to your departure.
Our fishing packages are from April 1 through September 30. We can help customize a package that could include Sporting Clays, Golf, or many other activities. We also can customize a hunting and fishing package during the hunting season. We look forward to seeing you soon.
