Thank you for inquiring about The Buck & Boar. The Buck and Boar is located in beautiful central S.C. The property that makes up the Buck and Boar has been managed exclusively for trophy deer / wild boar over the last 20 years. Our commitment to produce the highest quality Whitetail Deer hunting and European Wild Boar hunting possible led to the erection of five miles of game proof fence to enclose the entire property. Herd population, buck to doe ratio, and predators are more controllable. The high cost of introducing European boar into our trophy boar program can now be justified. Our herds are producing trophy boar and trophy bucks that far exceed our original expectations. Animals that are born and bred on their own, within the enclosure. A managed wild herd, not a stocked animal. Over thirty food plots and year around supplemental feed are offered to supply needed nutrition. Give me a call to book your Buck and Boar adventure.
Whitetail Deer Hunting

The deer herd at the Buck and Boar is producing more quality bucks each year than the year before. Thanks to our intensive trophy management program, trophy bucks in excess of 160" are becoming more common. Be our guest and hunt the "Old Growth" hard woods that cover the acorn ridges the bucks call home. Deer hunting is done from elevated shooting houses and ground blinds. This hunt is not physically demanding and can be tailored to suit most any hunter. Trophy Deer hunts are extremely limited.4-BUCKS-4-BREAKFAST No more than a dozen were sold for this year. Last deer seaason our success rate was 100%. Trophy bucks averaged 140" b.c.. We expect 2008 to produce the biggest trophy bucks in our history! We are taking deposits deer hunts now. S.C. deer season runs from August, 15th - January, 1st. Deer can be harvested in full velvet the first two weeks of the season. Our rut runs from mid Oct.- mid Nov. The rut is an excellent time to book a hunt. These deer hunts will book up so call early to secure your dates.
Hunting European Boar

Wild boar hunting at the Buck and Boar is year-round and some of the best offered anywhere. If you desire more than a pig hunt on some ones deer lease we may be what you're looking for. Our hog herd is managed to produce high-quality European trophy boar. The genetic mak BAD BLOND BOARe-up of our herd is a product of all four strains of European boar. Protected breeding stock imported from Europe is the foundation of our breeding program that is setting industry standards. We currently hold one world record trophy boar in the W.W.T. record book. We are committed to managing for quality to ensure our guest the opportunity to harvest a fine European trophy boar. It's wild boar hunting at it's best. The majority of our wild boar hunting is from elevated shooting houses and ground blinds. We have stands overlooking 30+ food plots, feeders and bait sites. Over a dozen stands are set up with the archery hunter in mind. It is not uncommon to see 25-30 hogs on an evening hunt. Spot and stalk hunting accounts for the rest of the hogs we harvest. It is more challenging than stand hunting and less productive. Your ability to move silently through the woods will affect your success on this hunt. Under the right conditions this can be one of the most exciting ways to hunt a wild boar.
Ram Hunting

The Buck & Boar is proud to offer ram hunts in 2006. Introduced in stages over the past few years, the rams were protected and allowed to rome the entire preserve while maturing into true breeding herd. Corsican, Desert Paints, Mouflon, Texas Dall, and Black Hawaiian rams can be found in social groups, grazing food plots or browsing woodlots throughout the property. Rams are pursued on foot and hunted from stands. A trophy ram and a wild hog hunt make a great combo. Ram hunting is productive morning thorough mid-day when hogs tend to lay-up. After a day of ram hunting it will be prime time for a late evening hog hunt. Two outdoor companies have filmed Buck & Boar ram hunts this year with great satisfaction. These hunts will be featured on the Men's and the Sportsman channel in the near future. If you're looking for a first class ram hunt then give us a call. We have a ram hunting package for you!
Accommodations

Let us show you why over 75% of our guests return for another hunting adventure. See video clip of our hunts at www.northwoodsoutdoorstv.com.
Planning and Pricing Your Hunt
The Buck & Boar will gladly custom tailor a hunting package to meet the needs of the individual or large group. We do not believe in hidden charges. We will not charge you any unexpected add-on costs. You will be charged a daily fee to stay, eat and hunt, and a trophy fee for each animal you harvest. Your daily fee is determined by the size of your group. This is charged per person per day. In addition to your daily fee you must pay a trophy fee for each animal you shoot. Trophy fees are determined by the size/species of the animal. Your daily fee x the days you were here added to any trophy fee(s) that apply = the total price of your hunt.

Daily fee: The daily fee covers meals, lodging, ice, snacks, bottled water, guides, in-field trans., shooting range use and as much time in the stand as you would like.
Trophy fee: The trophy fee covers your harvest, tracking & hopefully a recovery, skinning & caping, quartering the meat and ice.
*note: tips do account for a percentage of a guides and cooks salary *
Your hunt will be reserved for the species of animal you book it for. Adding on additional animals without advance notice is usually not a problem but in some cases herd density and the demand of future bookings will not allow us to do so. Informing us of your harvest goals when you book will keep this from being a problem.
Deposit: A $200.00 non-refundable deposit is required in advance for each guest. We accept M/C, & Visa over the phone and in camp. Personal checks are accepted for advance deposit only, no checks are accepted in camp!
The Buck & Boar is not a kill-pen.We do not offer canned hunts. If you’re looking to kill an animal without investing time and effort you may be disappointed hunting with us. Our animals live in an enclosure but they are wild and wise to hunting pressure. We do not guarantee a kill. Most of our hunting parties enjoy an eighty percent success rate and take home top quality big game trophies.Give yourself a fair chance at success by allowing ample time to get the job done.
We recommend: Wild Boar or Ram: one and a half to two and a half days Wild Boar-Ram combo: two and a half days Trophy whitetail deer: three to five and a half days
We will be glad to itemize the cost of your hunting package with you when you call. We will let you know what you will owe with and without your intended harvest.

Breeding Stock

Here at the Buck and Boar herd management is part of our daily routine. Pioneering management strategies by putting ideas into action, is the reason our trophy boar management program is unique to the industry. The foundation of our program is no industry secret at all. SUPERIOR GENETICS. With good genetics the sky is the limit. If you desire European characteristics in your hogs, you have to put euro. genes in your hogs. You can not make sugar out of shit! An old hog farmer once told me "son, nothing fattens the beast like the eyes of the owner".If you're going to invest your time and money toward improving your herd, make a wise investment and start with good genetics.Part of our management program is introducing protected brood stock into our wild herd. We have a facility where we produce our own stock, in doing so we experiment with different euro. crosses and hybrids. A limited number of animals are sold each year. New pigs are res. in advance by deposit ($500.00-$1000.00). Young brood hogs sell for $1500.00 &up and are rarely offered for public sale. Look for links on this site for other reputable breeders I know and trust.
