During my tenure with the St. Louis Cardinals I was fortunate to be a part of several bird hunting trips to South Dakota. I was so intrigued by the experience, I proceeded to explore putting together my own hunting lodge and bring not only other athletes but any who love bird hunting to enjoy this great experience.
In 2001 I opened the Firesteel Creek Hunting Lodge, an 8000 square foot enue complete with many amentiites to enhance the hunting experience. Many from the Cardinal Family have enjoyed the lodge including Whitey Herzog, Red Schoendienst, Bruce Sutter and Mike Matheny. So you know South Dakota is prbably the premier area for hunting the ring neck pheasant, and we take full advantage of the season from September 1 t0 March 31st. The weekend hunt includes three full days of hunting plus lodging and meals, in a setting unparalleled in the part of the country.
I am planning to add a new component and would like to share the concept with you. It would involve some mini seminars done in the evening while the men are relaxing constructed around leadership, motivation, discipline and balanced lives, all things I was confronted with during my baseball career. I am sure there are men in your organization that would benefit from an experience like this.
This opportunity could be used by companies in several ways either internally or externally. Internally it could be used as an incentive or reward for employees. Externally to create or sustain relationships with clients or retailers for their business throughout the year.
