Sandy Oaks Ranch is conveniently located 30 minutes from downtown San Antonio on Interstate 35. Named to depict its beautiful terrain, we are situated in the Sarita-Wilco sands, which have long been known to produce some of the best quail hunting in Texas. Sandy Oaks Ranch is a unique Texas experience for a family reunion, corporate retreat, romantic wedding, or any other special destination event.
 
We have two event facilities that provide majestic views of the large live oaks, the rolling hills, while overlooking a two acre tank. A dramatic backdrop with incredible sunsets is ideal for any size of event, whether it’s an intimate group or for a cast of thousands.
The Lodge is perfect for socializing around the fireplace, pool and bar at the outdoor pavilion area or mingling in the indoor comforts of the main lodge. We offer casual dining with gourmet country style cuisine in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.
Our Shooting Pavilion is available for 5-Stand, Sporting Clays, Box Bird and Columbaire, Helice and Ball Trap. Along with an abundance of live oak trees and picturesque scenery we are all about a unique hunting experience. Wingshooters can enjoy authentic quail hunts, hunting early release bobwhite quail, native wild quail as well as white-winged and mourning doves. The land has been managed to produce excellent quail habitat. Our sandy soil naturally produces preferred feed for quail and dove. Quail hunting will be guided by owner, Foard Houston and other professional guides. All guides are very experienced upland bird hunters and dog handlers.
 
The Texas style cabins are nestled among large live oak trees, catering to the relaxation of our guests. Each cabin can accommodate twelve to sixteen overnight guests and is adjacent to The Lodge and pool area. There are five unique and cozy guest rooms, each with a private bathroom.
Fly fishing trips are available and are also guided by Foard Houston. Enjoy fly fishing for large mouth bass in south Texas or sight casting for redfish and trout on the Gulf Coast.

- Day Dove Hunts are $100.00 per person

- Overnight Dove groups are $650.00 per person and include 3 days, 2 nights lodging, meals, beverages (BYOB) and guide with a 10 person minimum
Upon booking, half deposit is required. All deposits are nonrefundable. A signed liability release form is required upon arrival to the ranch. We accept cash, cashier's checks, company and personal checks. We follow all state and federal hunting and fishing regulations. Bring hunting or fishing license. Quail hunters bring blaze orange vest and hat. Let us know in advance if you wish to bring your own dogs.

How Custom-Fit Adjustments Improve Your Shooting:
You will hit more birds and clays and enjoy wingshooting more than ever with a custom-fit shotgun. How? A custom-fit shotgun is built to your exact arm length, chest size, cheekbone structure, eye alignment and more, so you mount your shotgun correctly and consistently, and get on target with ease and accuracy. A custom-fit shotgun accommodates you, rather than requiring you to try to force-fit your body type to a shotgun with generic, mass market dimensions. Come get a fitting with an Orvis Try Gun and fire at the Try Board and see the difference a properly fitted gun will make in your shooting potential. The Orvis Gun Program is the only one of its kind in the country. Each gun fitting at Sandy Oaks Ranch, an Orvis Endorsed Wingshooting Lodge, is conducted by owner Foard Houston. Foard has been trained by the Orvis Chief Gunsmith of 28 years and Corporate Gun Manager John Skinner. No other gun program offers the quality of workmanship, selection of custom styles and models, and the willingness of gunsmiths to stand behind their work. Choose from a wide range of styles, gauges, and models. Includes scrolled engraving, premium-grade wood, hand-rubbed oil finishing and English leather recoil pads.
How Custom Gun Fittings Are Measured:
Length of Pull: The distance from center of the front trigger to center of stock butt. Your stock length is adjusted according to your arm length and build. Correct length of pull results in correct, consistent gun mount to your cheek.
Drop at Comb and Drop at Heel: Drop at Comb is measured from the line of sight running along the top of the barrel to the top of the stock at the comb. Drop of Heel is measured from the line of sight running along the top of the barrel to the top of the stock at the heel. Proper stock dimensions aligns the center of your pupil with the rib so your gun points exactly where you are looking.
Pitch: The angle of the butt of the stock relative to the pitch of your shoulder. Assures that the butt sits flush to your shoulder every time for consistent, sure mounting.
Cast: The distance the stock is bent to the left or right in relation to the alignment of the pupil to the center of the rib on the barrels, and is adjusted according to your facial structure and shoulder width.
Live Fire:
To assure a proper gun fit, we will go to the Try Board and fire the Try Gun. This will help us fine tune the exact measurements for your gun. Combined with a proper gun mount, this will ensure that your gun will shoot where you are looking.
I guarantee that combining a proper gun fit, a consistent gun mount, good target vision, and smooth, fluent gun movement, will result in more targets hit!

Sandy Oaks Ranch is located 35 miles south of San Antonio directly off Interstate 35. Only 30 minutes from downtown San Antonio.
From San Antonio, take I-35 south towards Laredo.
Take exit 121 after Devine.
Take a left onto the access road heading south.
Sandy Oaks Ranch is approx. 1/2 mile on the right.
We will provide transportation to and from the Devine Airport, which is located 5 miles from the ranch. (no charge)

We have two meeting areas available. The Lodge has both indoor and outdoor facilities. It can accommodate 20+ people for an indoor meeting, and 50+ people for an outdoor meeting. The Shooting Pavilion area can accommodate 125+ for an outdoor meeting.
