Welcome To San Miguel Ranch & Lodge
We think the vision of San Miguel Ranch & Lodge was forged 150 years ago. That’s when our family began cattle ranching in south Texas. We are the 7th generation.
Today, San Miguel Ranch & Lodge is home to one of the largest, most respected hunting and outdoor adventure ranches in North America. Outdoor writers consistently refer to our operation as world-class.
Hunters come to San Miguel Ranch for Boone & Crockett class trophy whitetail deer, exotic game and world-class south Texas wingshooting, including dove, quail, pheasant and chukar.
San Miguel Ranch is located in Uvalde County, south Texas, and although our front gate is only 1½ hours from San Antonio, you could be a million miles from anywhere. If you come to San Miguel, you’ll hunt over 30,000 acres of prime, south Texas free-range brush country – unspoiled and teeming with game. Cliffs rise hundreds of feet and surround the ranch’s fertile agricultural flats. The ranch is breathtakingly beautiful.
We take our accommodations as seriously as we do our hunting. We have just completed construction of an exceptionally beautiful lodge where you’ll be surrounded by a museum-quality trophy game collection while you dine on fare prepared by our culinary chef trained at Le Cordon Bleu.
As a hunter, we know you have choices. We feel privileged that you are considering San Miguel Ranch for your next hunting experience. If you hunt with us, we’ll outwork anyone to earn your business and deliver an extraordinary hunting experience.
Come to San Miguel Ranch and Lodge. We put you in the hunt.
Some Of The Things That Set Us Apart From The Ordinary
Record Setting Whitetail Hunting
Since 1997, San Miguel has produced more free-range 150+ B&C whitetail deer for its clients than any outfitter in Texas.
Exceptional Wingshooting
Of the lower 48 states, Uvalde County in Texas is the #1 high-density dove hunting area and one of the last places on earth where native bobwhite quail exist in healthy numbers. Our upland wingshooting is pure south Texas with quail, ring-necked pheasant, chukar and wild turkey.
World-class Amenities
As you read this, our 7,500 square foot lodge has been completed. Our architects researched dozens of Spanish haciendas to design a lodge that would fit San Miguel’s desire for Old World elegance and luxury for our clients.
We Are The Corporate Hunting And Retreat Leaders
We continue to set new standards for corporate hunting with our corporate incentives program. Our in-house business to business expert can custom design an extraordinary hunting experience that will bring you new business, retain client relationships, or reward your valuable employees.
The Best Guides
We went the extra mile to ensure that our guides are the best in the business. We established the San Miguel Certified Guide School. It’s demanding, comprehensive and all of our guides are graduates.
San Miguel Ranch & Lodge Wingshooting
San Miguel Ranch and Lodge offers a total wingshooting experience. The lodging is Old World elegant, the birds are plentiful, and the bird dogs are beautifully trained. You’ll find our professional hunters to be as passionate about wingshooting as you are.
For the dove hunter, the grain fields of milo, corn, sesame, and sunflower surrounding the Uvalde area hold the largest concentrations of whitewing and mourning doves found in the lower 48 of North America. With record rains in 2007 producing bumper grain crops, biologists are predicting a great year for doves.
We have devoted 1,000 acres of the ranch to quail and other upland game hunting. Our cultivated quail strips are sewed in native grasses and grains. The low cover makes working our dogs a pleasure. Our low south Texas brush is a little less forgiving and a little more challenging.
Besides our native bobwhite and blue quail, we stock upland birds to assure our clients have an action packed hunt. Our stocked birds are bred for speed and raised in huge flight pens for a fast flying action. At San Miguel, you’ll hunt bobwhite quail, chukar and ring-necked pheasants.
“We enjoy taking our customers to San Miguel. Lots and lots of birds!” Brian Smith, Mingledorff, Inc.
Whether you’re a novice, getting your first taste of upland game hunting or an experienced, world-class wingshooter, we can challenge you at the highest level. That’s probably why our longtime clients continue to count on San Miguel for their wingshooting.
Our wingshooting hunts are great for the corporate client looking to build a unique hunting adventure that their employees and customers will never forget.
“We’ve entertained our customers on San Miguel dove hunts for over 6 years now, it’s helped us to continue to build customer loyalty.” Mel Barbee, Carpenter Company
