TEXAS QUAIL HUNTING

In Texas, our ranches are located in Howard and Glasscock County, about 50 miles southeast of Midland, Texas.  We have over 35,000 acres and a newly constructed 5,800 sq. foot lodge that includes private bed rooms, bathrooms, game room, and comfortable sitting and dinning areas.

Our ranches provide some of the best quail habitat in the state. The terrain is gently rolling native rangelands with scattered mesquite and low growing brush.   We own much of the land we hunt and extensively manage it to achieve the maximum carrying capacity for bobwhite quail.

The quail season usually runs from the last weekend in October to the last weekend in February. A five-day permit is $75.00. The limit varies from 10 to 15 birds per day per hunter.

In Oklahoma, our ranches are located in the western portion of the state-extending northwest into the panhandle along the Beaver River. The terrain is rolling sagebrush country with sand hills and scattered plum thickets. We have over 30,000 acres to hunt as well as a very nice two story lodge.

The quail season usually runs from the second weekend in November to the 15th of February. Pheasant season runs the entire month of November and December. A five-day permit is $75.00 for quail and $125.00 for a pheasant and quail combination. The limit is 10 quail and 3 pheasants per day per hunter.

The quail population fluctuates from year to year depending mostly upon spring rains and the severity of winter. For this reason our ranches are spread over large and diverse areas. We hunt where the birds are. In years with high populations we will find 30 to 40 coveys a day. In down years, 15 to 25 coveys a day are more likely. Hunter harvest and success data are available on request.

Our minimum hunt package is for three days of hunting with a minimum of three hunters. We hunt from foot, truck, or horseback depending upon the hunter's desire.

TEXAS TURKEY HUNTING

Most of our leases are located in the cross-timbers of North Texas and south central areas of the rolling Plains of Texas. This could be described as a 200-mile radius north of Abilene, Texas. The leases vary in size but are usually located on large private ranches from 3,000 to 20,000 acres.

The spring season in Texas runs for five weeks usually from the first week in April to the first weekend in May. License can be purchased from us when you arrive to hunt. A season out of state special spring turkey license is $75.00. You also are required to purchase a $5.00 turkey stamp. Our hunt packages include a two-bird limit per hunter.

We have been guiding spring turkey hunts in Texas since 1985. Our success rate is 100% on opportunity to shoot at least one bird. Our harvest success rate is close to 90%. The turkey populations have been on a steady incline for the last 10 years. It is not uncommon for each hunter to have opportunity on more then a dozen different birds in a few days of hunting .

Our typical hunt package is for 2 to 3 days of hunting. Usually it does not take the full 3 days to bag your birds. We provide nice ranch accommodations for guided hunts with three meals a day, which are cooked and prepared to order.

At one of our ranches we have one of the best private bass lakes in the state of Texas. The fishing is absolutely fantastic, it's not uncommon to catch and release over 100 bass a day ranging from 2 to 6 pounds, and the current record is over 13 pounds. For bass fishing enthusiasts, we will combine a fishing trip with a turkey hunt at the same fee; this makes for great combination package. 2 to 5 day trips can also be booked exclusively for fishing from May to October.

 TEXAS DEER HUNTING

Most of our ranches are located in the cross-timbers and south central areas of the rolling plains within a 100-mile radius of Abilene, Texas. The terrain is rolling rangeland consisting of low growing brush mesquite flats, hardwood ridges and creek bottoms. The ranches are 5,000 to 10,000 acres in size and are usually within a thirty-minute drive of food and lodging.

The deer season in North Texas runs from the first weekend in November to the first weekend in January. The most productive time to hunt is during the rut, which usually begins in early November and tapers off by mid December. Out of state licenses can be purchased from us when you arrive. Each hunter is allowed to harvest one trophy buck. Doe, feral hogs, and turkeys are also available on a kill fee basis.

Our method of hunting is dependent upon the hunter's desire, weather, and location of the hunt. We hunt from foot, stands, and vehicles equipped with high racks. When walking is preferred or necessary, hunters must be in reasonable shape. The terrain is rugged, vast, and often hilly. We offer hunt specific bucks and will cover several miles a day glassing animals. During the peck rut we spend most our time rattling and stand hunting. It is not uncommon to see ten or more maturer bucks a day. It is reasonable to expect an opportunity to harvest a mature buck in the mid 130 to 140 B&C point range and is highly possible to see bucks in the 150 to 160 B&C point range.

Our minimum hunt package includes three days of hunting with a minimum of two hunters. We can accommodate up to twelve hunters per hunt. Discounts are available for large groups. Catered hunts with meals and lodging are available. Meals are cooked and prepared to order. Lodging provided is comfortable remodeled ranch houses.
