There is a place in Utah...
Where you can fire up your spirit.
Where you and your family, or colleagues, can relax, enjoy top-notch accommodations and outstanding recreational activities.
The place is Castle Valley Outdoors, located on a working cattle ranch in south-central Utah, with plenty of solitude and services.
Kick back and let the big picture come into focus in our comfortable, well-equipped lodges, spacious bedrooms and expansive dining room, with homestyle cooking and an oversized fireplace that sparks easy conversation.
We are an Orvis Endorsed Wingshooting Lodge - the only lodge in Utah to obtain that coveted endorsement.
Executive Retreat Specialists
Castle Valley Outdoors is a three-lodge executive retreat on a working ranch on 16,000 acres. We are located in south-central Utah, about 180 miles from Salt Lake City. We offer exceptional lodging, meals and recreational experiences for individuals or groups of up to 32 people.
We offer a unique Western environment where there is room to relax, recreate and rejuvenate. Our mission is to provide an environment where you can enjoy accomplishment and adventure while rewarding excellence and building your team.
Wingshooting
There's a sound a pheasant makes when you flush it out. It's exhilarating, it's hard to describe, but you never forget it.
Castle Valley Outdoors is hunter's paradise. We've dedicated over 4,000 acres of prime pheasant hunting habitat that provides excellent cover and feed for our upland game bird population. Pheasant, chukar and quail are abundant on our extensive properties. Enjoy wingshooting experiences hunting early release birds (easy to moderate terrain) or work a little harder hunting wild birds (moderate terrain).
Our German Shorthaired Pointers and Vizsla are some of the finest bird hunters in the west. Read what Gun Dog Magazine said about our dogs. Also read this account by Bob McNally of Mossy Oak.
There's not much like watching good gun dogs working well. German shorthairs were originally bred in Germany to be a hunting dog that could do it all. At a time when it was common for hunters to own many dogs for different purposes, the early Shorthair breeders believed one dog could do many tasks. Over time the German Shorthair has become one of the most popular pheasant hunting dogs due to their superb hunting skills, strong noses, strong bird desire and a natural retrieving instinct. Our well trained gun dogs will put you onto pheasants, guaranteed!
Whether your group includes beginners or experienced hunters, Castle Valley Outdoors will personalize a wingshooting experience to fit your specific needs. Bring your corporate clients, colleges, or favored staff, or your favorite hunting friends. Our people specialize in making your wingshooting experience or executive retreat a once in a lifetime, every time.
Package hunts range from our Complete Service - Premier Upland Game Bird Hunt (includes - Mixed Bag Bird Hunting, No Bag Limit, Lodging and Accommodations in our finest Castle Valley Lodge, Gourmet Country Meals, Sporting Clays and Shells, Professional Guided Hunting, Quality Gun Dogs, Game Processing and Packaging and access to other listed activities)to our traditional 10 Pheasant Bird Hunt (includes lodging, meals, guided hunting, gun dogs, and game processing). We also offer full or half day 'per bird' hunting opportunities.

Head right into the field or spend some time at the trap range shooting sporting clays to polish up your skills before your wingshooting experience. All wingshooting guns, shells and equipment can be provided.
We also organize big game hunts (in season). Elk and Mule deer are found in the mountains near our ranch and on our private property. Our guides know the area and know where to find the big ones.
Your schedule is our schedule, so just tell us what you want to do and we'll tailor each day's events for your group.
Cowboy and Horseback Activities
Trail Riding
Saddle up for a ride around the corral or a trail ride with our cowboys. Just keep your heels down, your back straight and your hat on tight. Weve got incredible places to show you that few people will ever get to see.
Big Game Hunts

Whether your group includes beginners or experienced hunters, Castle Valley Outdoors will organize an outing to fit your specifications. We specialize in guided big game hunts (in season). Elk and Mule deer are found in the mountains near our ranch and on our private property.
Our guides know the area and know where to find the big ones. We can deliver the hunting trip of a lifetime for trophy deer and elk.
We offer 4X4 and horseback access to hunting areas and fully furnished backcountry camps, as needed. Hunters can also stay in our deluxe lodges. See our hunting packages.
Hunts for other specials (bear, cougar, sheep) can be arranged upon request.
Fly Fishing
Let our experts teach you the art of fly fishing in one of our three well-stocked, private ponds.
We also fish on beautfiful mountain streams located just a few short miles away. These are blue-ribbon streams where you can expect to tie into spunky brown, rainbow and cutthroat trout.
Our expert guides can work with fishers of all experience levels, from beginners to accomplished veterans. If needed, we can help you learn to cast, choose appropriate flies, read the water and land the fish.
Hiking - Biking - ATV Riding
Hike Hikes here can range from leisurely strolls around the grounds to challenging treks. Well match a route to your skill level, and appetite for adventure.
Some of our favorite hiking spots include Black Dragon Canyon, Devils Canyon and the San Rafael Knob. This is genuine wilderness, in a rugged area that rivals the most scenic national park, without the crowds and restrictions. We also hike to incredible ancient Native American rock art sites.
Bike
Whats your pleasure? Do you want ride the roads or charge headlong down technical singletrack? Several of the worlds most famous mountain bike trails are located near Castle Valley Ranch. Then again, we know trails that are just as good but are little-known treasures.
ATV
Hop onto one of our Yamaha Rhino four-wheelers and follow the switchbacks up the mountain behind the cabins, or cruise down the road to get up close and personal with grazing elk.
